Belief in Gene-absolutism seems to be a thing.
I remember my coworker once showed me a TED Talk style video of a guy claiming the reason people are poor is because people have a "poverty gene" and therefore, they have to keep serving their capitalist masters, who have their special and magical "being-rich-and-better-than-you gene."
Can't afford your car payments? You have an Expensive Car Gene.
Stubbed your toe? You have a Stubbed Your Toe Gene.
Gotten fired from your job? You have a Easily Fired Gene.
It's utterly ridiculous how many nonsense ideologies there are out there who try to obfuscate and perpetuate class rule through pseudoscientific bullshit.
