I reach for the margarine shelf personally.

A.) I'm incredibly lazy and very much enjoy how margarine is nice and soft even when straight out of the fridge.

B.) I kinda prefer the taste tbh.

Just dropping in to say you absolutely can leave butter out at room temp for weeks at a time and it'll be perfectly fine. Been doing it my whole life. Never once had it go rancid. Don't know what a butter bell is, but I do put it on a tray and keep it covered, but that's all.

Earth balance is an acceptable vegan margarine/butter substitute for most applications

How do you prevent cats from eating it? Unfortunately the "don't have cats" method isn't gonna work for me.

Does not work, our cat would just knock the lid off. :(

Technically it was this one. The lid sorta suction/friction fits to the base
