~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

I think this is how the "currency" of knowledge and experience works in Star Trek. The more senior position you have, the more away missions you get to take, which is part of the incentive to be promoted. Since there's no money, experience becomes currency (in a sense) so having the privilege of away missions and all of that is like getting a raise. We see this in the various shows (SNW in particular) where being picked for away missions is a kind of desired reward.
Plus, it also fosters more captain openings in a society where people can just keep going well into their 100s. It's how Kirk got to become captain of the Farragut, yeah? His captain died on an away mission?
