Okay just block them, and block everything else you dont want to see, idk yeah theyre a bunch of crazy wannabe communists, i agree we all agree, just block and move on, like what else is there? Doxx them? That makes no sense, right?
it's crazy people who are butthurt ivan drago lost in rocky iv, they're not worth your attention -- quite frankly this couldn't be a better advertisement for lemmy.mi or whatever it is. So i guess that's my rant, stop reacting with content you don't like. If something real and local to your geography is happening, yes, go to a protest, volunteer helping underserved communities. But if it's on freaking social media (federated or otherwise) just block and move on, dont feed into it. We don't even know what corner of the world they actually live in. Think about all the horrible people in the world in positions of power -- they all get tons of negative attention online and they harness that negative attention into real-world benefits for them.
I can.
But as some point I worry about the health of the community.
I don’t want to invest my time in platform that shrinks into a one-topic pit. Been down that rabbit hole before.
…To be clear, I think Lemmy is okay now, but I worry about the trajectory.
It's FOSS, it's a federation, like yes crazy people will make instances full of crazy stuff and you block/defederate them. Idk, like it's part of the thought process behind it, like im sure literal genocidal dictators host a couple instances we probably never heard of. That was always the answer on day 1 of a free and open social network, crazies are free to join like everyone else and they get blocked, what other system would be better?
The structure is important, too. That ultimately colors the community, no matter how "free" it is.
I think Lemmy mirrored Reddit a little too closely. For instance, feeds are structured in a way so that popular and "ragebait" communities rise over niche interest ones, and starve the latter.
Piefed is better, and getting better, though. In some ways.
