I guess there are enough people that have a use for a folding tablet to make this a viable product?
Of course, some will buy it just because they have the money to blow, and folding phones are cool at the moment. Is that the main market for these things?
Personally, I am someone who prefers the other form factor...a regular sized phone that can fold to become smaller. Works great for stupid ass tiny women's pants pockets.
But I don't understand why the form factor that I enjoy is just not nearly as popular as the folding tablets. Doesn't seem like many people have use for carrying a small tablet with them unless they are big into drawing. But idk.
I've used a Z Fold since 2021 and I can't imagine going back. The convenience of having a small tablet in your pocket is way too useful. It's replaced my Kindle and also my Surface at the time for note taking. It was also fairly narrow which made it great for one handed use.
The new ones are much wider and lost the pen support though so I can't imagine "upgrading" to them unless they bring those back. I'll just replace the battery when needed and keep using my current one.
I have no idea, they've survived longer than I expected. I'm still yet to encounter one being used in the real world.
Three of the people at my work have one (couldn't tell you what variant) and it's astounding to see. They're from other countries though so I have to assume that has something to do with it.
I assume there was a promo (in Chile or somewhere else near it where they're from) because most of the people I work with use iPhones these days and all our work device are iPhones.
