Is this really an ADHD thing? I'm pretty sure the human brain ignoring repeated stimuli is a universal thing.

It definitely is, but it's got way worse consequences for ADHD people, because we cannot remind ourselves to pay attention as easily. Well spotted, though.

Most ADHD symptoms are things neurotypicals also deal with from time to time, only much worse and much more frequently.

This is one of those symptoms.

The thing that differentiates between regular neurotypical people and those with ADHD is the last D, Disorder.

Everyone has little quirks and whatnot, different ways of seeing the world and thinking, but when it starts affecting everyday life is when it becomes a Disorder.
