This is easy to demonstrate. Hang a calendar on the wall in a prominent position. Obvserve that during August it displays April, and it's the first time you noticed it.

Thank goodness the greed square is there. Wouldn't know what to read otherwise.

Hands off my greed square (it’s a rectangle btw).

Is this really an ADHD thing? I'm pretty sure the human brain ignoring repeated stimuli is a universal thing.

Most ADHD symptoms are things neurotypicals also deal with from time to time, only much worse and much more frequently.

This is one of those symptoms.

The thing that differentiates between regular neurotypical people and those with ADHD is the last D, Disorder.

Everyone has little quirks and whatnot, different ways of seeing the world and thinking, but when it starts affecting everyday life is when it becomes a Disorder.

So what's the answer, I need solutions

It varies a lot from person to person.

I've had a lot of success with setting alarms on my phone, but it's still 70/30 if not 60/40.

You just need to try all the methods until you find one(s) that work for you

Ive been putting all the stuff I need to remember on a cork board right above my desk. My trick for it to not become background noise is that every note I add to it is interactive in some way. I add boxes to check, lists to expand, or recently I just cut out 31 squares of grid paper and glued it to my note as a sort of calendar, just to fill in a box each day of August that I remember the importance of the note. It also helps to be constantly adding and removing things. If details relating to a note have changed, I'll sometimes take the note down, toss it, and rewrite the note with a different color pen before sticking it back up. Constant change helps a lot.

A key is to have an ever-changing solution. Any one method for too long will inevitably fail, so you have to regularly change it up. This also plays on the "interest, challenge, novelty, urgency" way which our brains work by keeping our brain engaged instead of bored.

But still, the dilemma of having the energy (and availability creativity) to keep changing or rotating the method can be a regular pitfall.
