The English never stated that god promised them some land.

They just took it for the Crown.

Isn't the point of the whole "divine right of kings" that the kings actions follow the will of god? Or worded a bit differently, that a king works as a god's proxy.

This would mean that taking land for the crown means taking it in the name of god, right?

Yeah the excuse the Brits and French used for land theft was to better the savages and teach them about Christ.

" god gave me this land " is manifest destiny reserved for settler colonies like the US and Israel.
