Edit: For context, @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com discovered that the developer of Tesseract had discretely banned numerous instances and disguised it as a server error. This included more heavily leftist instances, but also blahaj.zone. More recently, it was discovered that they had also been suppressing individual users, phrases, and communities that criticize power tripping on fedi.
Needless to say, I implore non blahaj.zone users to drop the Tesseract client (support for the client has already been dropped for blahaj). So called "liberals" like this who call out "extremism on both sides" are an insult to the values they claim to be upholding.
When you say "leftists" do you mean "progressives and anarchists" or do you mean "Tankies"?
Frankly, DB0 has very low credibility in my books, they've been caught both-sidesing and enabling both white supremacists and tankies operations on the fediverse.
EDIT: I took a moment to check out the post, I do disagree with secretly hardcoding a ban or censor rather than leaving it configurable.

Yeah, weird that the dude shadowbans all the tankies while banning the word tankie. Additionally the list of regex terms is ridiculous. You find words like "yuri", "perchance" and "GirlsFrontline" in it. If this goes on, Admiral Patrick will ban words of basic grammar like "it".

We're not selling weapons to russia or china. We're not running interference for them at the UN, and we're not merging our military with theirs.

You know who did run interference for Genocide? China and Russia vetoing the Palestine ceasefire resolution in the UN back in March of 2024.
You know who actively promoted Genocide? China and Russia funneling weapons and funds through Iran to Hamas leading up to the music festival attack.
You lot would still be claiming the other side is the cause of everything if evidence surfaced of Putin or Xi meeting with Netanyahu directly, signing an agreement, and shaking each others dicks over the matter.
Tankies are neither communists nor anti-fascist no matter how often you say it. All I have to say, tankies will never achieve communism by centralizing power into the hands of a few party elites. That is virtually just an oligarchy with extra steps. Also you all seem to forget that Stalin first was against Hitler after Hitler betrayed him, but before that he was totally willing to cooperate with him (Ribbentrop-Molotov). Additionally, most "real existing socialist states" were/are just fascism painted with red aesthetics and calling themselves socialist. Also, tankies seem to attack socialists more than they actually attack the right and here on Lemmy, a lot of them feel like a psyop in favor of the far-right, because they only attack the left and the center. Like if you are as anti-fascist as you claim, then actually do something instead of constantly attacking the people who are against the far-right.
