MODERATORS

Canvas Stats has been updated for 2026!

The site was rewritten to be more efficient and now has a ton more features such as:

  • better search
  • Advanced search (see who placed pixels at a coordinate or within an area of the canvsa)
  • View stats for instances
  • More user stats including graphs for users

The biggest feature is Achievements. If you go to your profile on the site and click the "Claim the profile" button, it will unlock any achievements you have earned the 4 years that Canvas has taken place. More achievements will be added as they are suggested. It is guaranteed that everyone will get at least 1.

If you have any ideas for new features for the site, let me know. Currently working on

  • more advanced search options
  • more options for selecting what to render on the canvas
  • list of all achievements and how many users have unlocked each achievement

Looking at the pixel counts and the pixels placed per hour charts for the top 10 users, it seems most of them had very little sleep over the 48 hours... Gotta admire the dedication.

Judging by the matrix chat for the same users, I'm pretty sure they did get very little sleep 😆

Achievements are a cool addition, although it hurts my completionist soul that they're set up in a way where you can never get all of them...

Not sure which you mean, but it's a bit sad I don't get the "place in the top 100" or top 50 achievements for years I'm in the top 25. I feel like I shoud get them all.

In 2024, i was ranked 6th, i barely sleep XD

In 2024 I got 17th and placed a bit over 3k pixels, which is a record for me. But I feel like I remember those earlier years being a bit different. I think that 2024 might have been over 3 days?

I don't recall well but maybe the canvas was also bigger ? More people participated.

Anyway, it was different because overtime we no longer want to draw a flag and i hope that trend will continue. And i think there is much less grief than before. :)

The first year, there wasn't a rule against multiple accounts. I remember running several accounts and constantly flicking between them. After that, it was decided that people should only have one account, and that rule was introduced. So it's hard to really assess the number of people participating in that year. If the second year was longer like I think it was, that would also explain more people participating.

Just looking through the archive, the 2023 canvas was four times as big (1000x1000). It was quite empty at the end despite all the extra accounts people were using.

In 2024 the canvas started at 500x500. At a certain point in the event, the canvas doubled in size, opening up a whole extra canvas, making a 1000x500 canvas. It was fuller but still had a lot of gaps at the end.

2025 was 500x500, and was pretty nicely filled in, some whitespace but not that much.

2026 is definitely the most complete. You can zoom in randomly and almost any spot you look it looks like every part has been filled in with something. It was 500x500 as well, which seems like the right size for the event.

I agree it's nice to not have everyone try to fill in flags that are way too big or that stretch out to overrun other art.

Oh that explain lot things, thank you :)

For example, there's an achievement for using all the colors in the palette and only using one color of the palette. Cannot do both obviously, so you can only get one of those two achievements.

The available achievements can be checked from the source on GitHub.

I guess you have the option of doing one in one year, and the other in a different year, then you can have both just not for the same year.
