When this thing dries up, will any of the underground tunnels be usable for building a subway someday?
The tunnels barely fit a sedan, they certainly won't fit a train
could they be bored out? widening a tunnel seems like less earth to move than digging a new tunnel
They basically connect a parking lot to a convention center. Doesn't make sense to get a tunnel drilling rig down there when the tunnel doesn't provide much value except whatever the Tesla drivers are paid.
I don't know the logistics, but area (the amount of material to bore out) grows by the square of the radius.
Kinda like how a a large pizza is just a few more inches across than a medium size: when you make the hole just a bit wider (and a proper metro would need more than a bit more width), you end up with a lot more material to move than you might expect.
Maybe the logistics part makes sense in an existing tunnel, but I really think you would just start from scratch.
No
Glasgow subway trains might fit. Those things are extremely tiny.
I'm the video they aren't even using tunnels lol, is just a glorified Uber...
Time to construct a tiny gadget rail!
Edit: I just learned that Gadgetbahn actually exists as a neologism in English, i need to tell my train girl about this.
