It's not just cats. The dogs have learned to lie, too. I had one literally cross its heart and hope to die that it had never eated a morsel of food in its entire life.
That's how I talk to my cat.
"Meow!"
"Really?"
"MEEEOOOWW!"
"Oh my goodness, never in your whole life?"

"Ok then let's get you feed, you poor thing."
