Why is there an @fdroidorg and an @fdroid account? It seems a bit confusing to find the official one. Especially as both have the same logo and both have a lot of followers. The former seems to be the official one, though, according to website verification.

@fdroidorg @fdroid and the first boost I'm getting is from the imposter account :D? Or am I missing something? Some internal feud, OSS drama or mutiny? :D

Spiderman comic meme. Where two spidermans point at each other. In the background there is an NYPD van and some wooden crates.

@fdroidorg@floss.social is the official microblogging account

@fdroid@lemmy.ml is a Lemmy/Threadiverse community for discussing topics related to FDroid

@otter @dadarobot ah! Thanks for the clarification! And #Lemmy was this federated #Reddit alternative, I remember now.
Would be great if that were somehow reflected in the @fdroid profile name or description... I guess not everyone on #Mastodon is aware of that.
Also if I search for "fdroid" on Mastodon then I find the Lemmy account and not the official one, even if I then click on profiles.
(Maybe the official @fdroidorg could fix that by adding an #fdroid hashtag to their profile description?)

Unaware Mastodoners do unwittingly post to Lemmy communities sometimes, assuming they’re talking to official representatives of this, that, or the other. It’s frustrating for all parties.

Right now the two sides of the Fediverse use a bit of a workaround where the communities show up as "users" on Mastodon, boosting everything that is posted in them. You can see how we see the community here: https://lemmy.ml/c/fdroid

It's hard because adding "community" to the name of all communities would feel redundant and messy for users that are here. They could include a note in the description saying that it's unofficial

I think the best solution would be if Mastodon implemented group functionality in a way that is compatible with the Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin side of the threadiverse :) If it was easier for mastodon users to access the existing communities, then I think everyone would benefit from it
