#47: Star Trek: The Original Series, season 3, episode 13 "Elaan of Troyius"

Written and directed by John Meredyth Lucas.

Stardate 4372.5 (June 2268)

"We cannot make peace with people we detest." - Petri

The Enterprise agrees to a top-secret escort for a Troyian Ambassador and the Dohlman of Elas for a marriage of convenience intended to end war between their two planets. However, there is barely-contained chaos on the ship from the moment the Dohlman comes aboard. She demands absolute obedience form everyone aboard, including Captain Kirk and Ambassador Petri. A forced arrangement which becomes harder and harder for both men to endure. To make matters worse, a Klingon ship is detected lurking nearby.

Originally released: 20 December 1968

I'm sorry for falling off on posting for a couple of weeks. I'm going through it right now. I'll do a little catch up this week and next.

And so the Stardate god says we have to jump to nearly the end of the series. Where the real scripts can be found. This one contains such gems as "all women are crazy" and "it's a man's job to spank them."

At least the joust with the Klingons is fun to watch. And Petri really feels like a Deep Space Nine character for some reason.

Also, I can't get over this scene where Shatner just looks directly into the camera. Star Trek has a precious few fourth wall moments. He must've really hated that line.
