Their most recent OTA update also allows you to disable location sharing, presumably to conform to California law.
Likely to disable it for other users mostly for in a domestic abuse situation (not the OEM) for a new York law. https://opdv.ny.gov/nys-connected-vehicle-service-laws
Any idea if this is true outside the US?
Just cover up the sharkfin with aluminum tape.
Those are mostly for GPS and AM/FM. The antenna for the connected services is likely in the dash.
