I was reading a book about how the Mormons form their own country side with Iran and I was wondering how likely it would be in a hypothetical would it be that the Mormons could breakaway from the usa in a guerrilla war

They're too integrated into the US government to really want to, but they certainly could. They have a lot of powerful institutions and control throughout the Mor[mon Corri]dor. Not enough to contend with the US at its current strength, though. And Iran would have absolutely no bearing on it, I'm having a hard time imagining the reasoning behind that.

If the US were to balkanize at some point in the future, the Mormon church would likely be one of the primary contending powers in the western states.
