The Enterprise is heading towards Starbase 6 for rest and relaxation when a garbled message mentioning the USS Intrepid and a set of coordinates is picked up. Just as this happens, Commander Spock suddenly goes into momentary shock. Spock recomposes himself and claims he just felt the Intrepid and its 400 Vulcan crewmembers die. As Spock is escorted to sickbay, Ensign Chekov scans the Gamma 7A System and confirms it is now completely dead and that the Intrepid is no longer there. Starfleet Command immediately diverts the Enterprise to that system and once they arrive they find what looks like a dark hole in space where the Gamma 7A System used to be.

This one had that memorable line from Spock about a ship full of Vulcans dying of astonishment.
Anyway, bottle eps are hard, but I thought this one was pulled off pretty well. Slightly absurd premise, but they made it work.
It also had quite the grueling aspect, with time seeming to drag on forever. Very nice ending, though, with the dramatic rescue and all.
