I don't see the racism you guys are seeing, please enlighten me!

I have similar frustrations, many players for France, for example, hold citizenship or originate from Lebanon, Algeria, Guinea, Nigera, etc.

Whether these players decide to play for France based on their national identity or if they just want to win, I do find it depressing how many of them play for a team that represents a country oppressing their people.

There's also a stigma that I've personally seen with people who hold dual-nationalities. I knew someone who decided to represent their home-country instead of Amerikkka for the Olympics, and the town gossip was that she wasn't good enough to qualify for Amerikkka.

To me it radiates similar energy as the US providing H1B visas to talent from across the world. We will poach the best of your country, and all the resources you poured into this person throughout their life will provide no benefit to your society.

For me it's

"European"

Specifically because of the air quotes. To me it echos nativist sentiment where there is nothing an immigrant can do to sufficiently integrate. Second paragraph largely parses.

That's valid. I'd probably catch that, but I've been on a hate-streak on the global north that I never even considered someone wanting to be integrated lol

You can say that "without mass migration, European countries would be without a large fraction of their present-day sports stars" without insinuating that these stars are actually not fully British or French and so on.
