Case in point:

The "Polska szklanka". Every home has one, transparent or dark glass. For some reason even if you don't have them, they will randomly appear.

clothesline right? there's some of these in the US but they're like 70 years old

Yup, the ones here are super old, not 70 years, but old. They're also increasingly rare as backyards become smaller and people prefer more compact clotheslines
