'Scept they're already clearcutting most of WA/OR to be able to cram in endless 5-over-1s to house all the new people, and even then there's an unbelievable housing crisis. That's on top of the incredible lack of employment and the crushingly overburdened public services... Plus anywhere decent in those states is going to be the highest cost of living in the country, if not (depending on the metric) the world.

Moving isn't cheap and easy, and the popularity of the queer migration to the coast is a huge problem right now. Personally I volunteer with several charities that do housing assistance/placement for queer & disabled folks and waiting lists over the past year and a half have ballooned to more than a thousand times more applicants than we have resources to support. There's just so, so many more people who want to come here than there is the ability to support.
