What is a Tankie?

Brigading/Trolling — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from maliciously voting, commenting, or manipulating the post in any way. This includes alt accounts. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be banned. Good-faith and honest communication is an exception.
Tankies can explain their views, but may be criticised or challenged for them. Any minor infraction of the rules may result in a warning and possibly a temporary ban.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically last only 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction doubles the duration. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

Wtf are they talking about "slavic peoples" XDDD. Ukrainians are slavic and the hateful bullshit russian propaganda spreads about them is beyond repulsive. No one dehumanises slavs more than other slavs tbh.
Fuuuuck russian disinfo. This shit has been spreading everywhere now. It's worryingly easy for well-meaning western "leftists" to fall for it because well, yes, amerika bad, maybe even worse than them if you compare some metrics of the destruction and death, but like, wtf is this twisted version of morality, that's just not how things work?!
It's also easy for anglos to deny or make up anything about russia because it's just not their cultural sphere, runet is kind of its own thing, so they can claim "oh that's all just american propaganda", "putinism can't be that bad if things are bad here in the west too", "russia fights imperialism" etc. The news on russia they have access to are filtered by western interest press, so this reaction isn't surprising.
One interesting thing is that russian propaganda comes in the right-wing flavour too, especially in central/eastern europe. And those memes are basically the same lol, just with extra/more overt racism.
If you start cheering for state violence and defending genocides, splash some cold water on your face or something and consider what you really want to fight for and why you're "leftist" in the first place. Liberation for all people!
The goal of the "slavic" bullshit is to claim there are no Ukrainians. Or any other Slavic people besides russians. According to them, we're all secretly russians that were led astray by the evil West™.
