Then they learn faster than the LA Olympics people. Seriously, those people are running a shit show for ticket sales at the moment.
It's the same queue system they had set up for the Steam Deck. They just didn't implement it for the controller because they didn't expect it to sell so fast.

Yea, a similar reservation queue is also now currently used for the Steam Controller, it's not like they need to reinvent it every time.
Or they did expect it to sell out so fast, and they depended on thousands of news articles to hype their product up.
Why budget for marketing when everyone will do it for you, for free
