Griffin added more details to her initial post, writing, “A senior US official tells me that it was a US military strike on Iran’s Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas moments ago but added this is NOT a restarting of the war or end to the ceasefire.”

Not a restarting of the war? LMAO this administration thinks we are STUPID.

[–] RustyShackleford@piefed.social 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The most significant issue with an idiot is that they will always assume that everyone around them is less intelligent than they are.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Dunning-Cougar effect. I know this one and I'm never wrong.

[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 14 points 1 week ago

It's just a demented military operation...

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well, a large percentage of the US is stupid.

[–] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Most Americans can't read at a 12th grade level.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

More than half the adult population can’t read at a grade 6 level.

[–] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Yep, that's the whole most Americans are functionally illiterate. I know. We're mostly a lost cause.

[–] CyberSeeker@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Most humans can’t read at a 12th grade level.

[–] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Yeah but we're talking about America where education through the 12th grade is compulsory. By virtue of passing every American with a high school education should be capable of analyzing and consuming media at a pre-collegiate level. More than half can't do it at even a sixth grade level. Half of Americans are functionally illiterate. Just look at any reddit thread or any America centric fediverse thread.

It thinks Republicans are. Because passivity from the Republicans in the Senate is all he needs to keep the war going. I certainly have no faith in the military to reject unlawful orders themselves.

[–] cunnililgus@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I mean you guys did vote him in

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago

Twice.
TWICE

The first time was moronic, but the second is unforgivable. Just unforgivable.

[–] northface@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Please, stop assuming every US citizen voted for Trump. A lot of them didn't, and you most likely have no idea whether the person you replied to is one of them.

These kind of comments are becoming tiresome and doesn't help anyone; and they certainly doesn't bring anything to the discussion.

@lemmy.ca . The user you replied to seems to be canadian.

thinks we are STUPID.

the majority of the country voted for him or abstained.... so yes... amerikkka is stupid

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 7 points 1 week ago

Basic article, but news snippets & headlines (sans article reading) can work the same way. As one example, we are now seeing pregnant women shun Tylenol, not for anything specific they remember, just a vague “I heard it could be bad for the baby.”

MAGA knows what they say in brief sound bites, on repeat, can and will have similar impact.

Not on all. But they don’t need all. They just need enough absorbing the info in this way to keep us divided and forever following different information.

Tbh our country re-elected him so I can see why they’d get that impression

[–] wampus@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah, they think you're powerless. And they're generally right.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

It’s true statement and a sad one. People need to turn that around, they are not powerless, but they are conditioned to think so.

You hold the power…if you choose it. You are not ants to be squished.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Imagine the average person. Pretty dumb, right? Now remember half of people are dumber than that

[–] aarch0x40@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

This administration thinks we're as drunk as they are
