There has to be another explanation besides the writers of the game sucking major balls at writing. Right? Like you not only have Fawkes, you have a ghoul friend and likely a fucking suit of power armor. Three ways right there you could have resolved the problem without anyone dying.

Pop 3 rad-x and have some radaway ready. Plus most players will have already been irradiated for Moira by this point.

Been too long so I don't remember if 3 has the high level perk that turns radiation into healing. If it was there, and someone had it, that would be an extra slap in the face.

There are a couple of perks for radiation. One removes the negative effects from minor radiation sickness, and another heals crippled limbs from advanced rad sickness. Otherwise, yeah I think the writers are just turbo doo doo

Nope, there's a reason that fawkes was patched to be able to go in there in a dlc. It was a bullshit narrative choice that they rightly fixed after the fact, but still shit on you for not killing yourself like your father did because DeStInY

I think the original intent was that the rad room had to result in the death of your main character, hence the refusal of your companions. So the lack of believability of the refusal of the companion characters is pretty bad writing.

Sucking balls at writing MQs is one thing. They also thought too much of themselves when they did it that way, and weren't passionate enough about that bold choice to own it as they took it back in a DLC. Bethesda's managers are a joke.
