My family's from the South. I have seen some shit you wouldn't believe.
But 4-in-10 finding homosexuality "morally wrong" is jaw dropping, to me. Another 23%, just "acceptable." In 2026?
WTF.
I thought homophobes were dying out, but apparently not.
"Morally acceptable" and "not a moral issue" combine into the greater "not morally wrong" category. Personally I'd put it in "not moral issue," but I don't assume any I'll will on the part of people saying it's "acceptable"
It doesn't look like there was an option for "morally good", so I'd have picked morally acceptable. "Not a moral issue" is for when I've never though about it in terms of morals, which automatically excludes any big life decision or matter of personal conviction.
I mean it's like if you prefer apples or oranges, there's no ethical principle at stake, you're allowed to like either one or both.
Oh, I don't see it as apples or oranges, but more like eating or not eating. Stopping people from eating is morally bad and vice-versa, giving people food is morally good. Apply that to gay sex directly without thinking about the implications of the analogy too hard. Ergo, homosexuality is morally good (but so is hetero-, bi- and even asexuality (the analogy breaks down too much)).
Being gay shouldn't be a moral issue any more than being straight would be.
sadly thanks to the pedophile-in-chief... homophobia has made a resurgence in vocal hate groups.
also transphobia popped up around covid, generally homophobia even sneaks into blue areas quite often(theres are multiple factors as well). in general usually straight caucasian/poc men from other states who move here and they look at gay people wrong in alot of times.
Yup. It was slowly going away and being ostracized by the wider society. Companies never truly supported LGBT+ but at least, due to the social pressure, they were acquiescing to demands to respect their right to exist and have representation in society.
Then Pedo in Chief comes along, starts saying the quiet part out loud, and every cockroach in this country who was being rightfully shamed into silence was given newfound confidence to openly be the hateful, narrow-minded bigot they always were behind closed doors. The social pressure was gone and with it the levees broke.
companies and certain groups felt like they needed to be "offended" for lgbtq+ groups so they try to force in movies and shows, i think they made things worst by doing this, it just reinforces homophobia amongst conservatives. suddenly celebreties who were closeted republican in Hollywood started railing against hollywood for going woke in some form another, start coming out of the woodworks around the time trump was nearing another term, or right after. remember the Gen V actor, chance perdamo(who also played in sabrina series) he drunk the manosphere koolaid and was heading for the exit from hollywood over this, he died before he did any damage though.
no the minorities do not need you to be offended for them, and making things worst.
How can you believe this nonsense? The existence of LGBT people did not turn these people away, the hateful bullshit propaganda they watch did. Fox News dialed homophobia up to 11 after Trump won.
You're disgusting.
You should look at the 2024 California same sex referendum. Lots of counties voted no, including Merced and Fresno.
Americans are staggeringly conservative
california has a large republicans population in the central areas, because its mostly farming areas.
