Given cars are becoming more and more like modern computers and most people have some preference of what side of the wheel the indicator is on: It's surprising that manufacturers don't allow changing the stalk side via software setting

Is the indicator stalk ever not on the outside? The inside stalk is for wipers.

Which side out actually falls on is which side of the car the steering wheel is on. If I were driving a right side drive vehicle, I would expect the indicator to be on the right, wipers on the left, and shifter in the center.
