Yes, realizing that Earth is the only home we have really makes you think twice. There is no other planet for us to conquer. Mess this one up, and weβre a doomed species.
we've already blown past 2 degrees so it's clear that we've already messed it up. the true question is how much longer we're going to keep letting the epsteins manipulate us into messing it up further instead of buying cheap & scalable green tech from china.
Surely making our energy system even more reliable on hostile and autocratic nations is a good move for a safe and stable future. What could ever go wrong if we make our energy supply reliant on a nation that has repeatedly used its power to coerce and pressure other countries in recent years?
How about we just try to learn from not only history and recent events but even the ongoing energy crisis we're facing today, and start becoming self-supplied with the tech we need instead of relying on autocratic countries for critical resources and infrastructure?
thanks to the freedom of information act, the state department released an epstein files like trove of documents admitting that they made up a bunch of propaganda about several nations; including china; decades ago to make the world believe it.
also: the epsteins have engineered it so that doing this through some gradual shift will never happen.
the climate change will fuck over this this world because of people like you who refuse to learn what's already been common knowledge outside the western world since the 1990's.
Wait? You're saying that China using its trade power to pressure/coerce Norway, Sweden and Latvia independently and on separate occasions within the past decade is propaganda from the 70's? The people making that propaganda must have been prescient!
Or is it the fact they're an autocratic dictatorship that's helping fund russias war against Ukraine you're saying is propaganda?
Either way, I have a really hard time seeing why anyone would argue that it's a bad idea to be self-sufficient in critical materials and infrastructure. We're seeing the consequences of addiction to Russian oil and gas today (and the past 4-5 years). It should be fairly obvious that it's a bad idea to go out of our way to make our critical infrastructure reliant on the country harassing half of South-East Asia, while actively threatening/preparing for an invasion of Taiwan.
no prescience needed; the american gov't has literally been doing that since the 1920's. lol
you would know this already if you spend your time reading these public domain file releases instead of uncritically ingesting propaganda.
What the US government is doing has exactly nothing to do with this though, and does exactly nothing to refute my point.
What's relevant (since you're advocating that we buy critical infrastructure from China) is what China is doing. It's very well documented that they use their power to pressure countries when they can. Therefore, it's a bad idea to make our critical infrastructure reliant on them. It's much smarter to be self sufficient in building and maintaining our critical infrastructure (self-sufficiency can include working with allies/partners you have good reason to trust in the long term).
PS. I added quite a bit to my previous comment just before you responded, sorry about that.
i don't thing anyone can argue against self reliancy in our critical infrastructure.
our disagreement is centered on the misguded belief that the western world (the united states in particular) will ever stop burning fossil fuels. the united states became self reliant on fossil fuels during the biden years and the epsteins will guarantee that americans will stay trapped in this climate killing version of self reliancy until they've squeezed every last drop of oil profits out of the united states and venezuela.
