At the very least watch episode 5!
It can be watched while ignoring the rest. It's honestly fantastic, peak Alien vibes. It's the events that happen on the space ship that caused it to crash into Earth. Which is where/when the show technically starts.
The rest of the show is... Ok... I'm glad I watched it all, but it wasn't that great.
