There is a degree of anount.
I'd say my Reddit subs are similarly set up to my Lemmy communities.
My feed is 80% (US) politics or (F)OSS politics even on stuff that is neither of them in the first place.
Reddit on the other hand was more like 20% potentially political, 75% random stuff like memes or niche sub posts and 5% political/story time subs.
Sadly the reddit feed became almost unusable. The r/sysadmin feed is atrocious.
