U.S. President Donald Trump said in a social media post this morning that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," as his threatened attacks on Iranian infrastructure loom ahead of an 8 p.m. ET deadline.
Iran has rejected a 45-day ceasefire proposal and says it wants a permanent end to the war.
UN Secretary General António Guterres warned the U.S. that attacking civilian infrastructure is banned under international law.
The death toll so far includes more than 1,900 people in Iran, 1,400 in Lebanon, 23 in Israel, about two dozen in other countries in the region, 13 U.S. service members and 11 Israeli soldiers.

Yep, I agree, the sane-washing, the undue defference... whatever you want to call it, it is totally absurd.
In at least some fairness to the CBC, this isn't an actual proper article, at least it wasn't when I originally posted it, its basically just a 'bullet points of ongoing story/breaking news' type thing.
I was just trying to find some actual news entity that was reporting it, beyond just like, me posting a TruthSocial screengrab as news.
But yes, generally speaking... the level of 'move along, nothing to see here' is infuriating, as it has been with especially the New York Times' total inability to link a noun Israel with an accurate, actively voiced verb.
It's just honestly surreal to watch, how can people even attempt to normalize this sort of shit.
I've been saying that things like this have been becoming more and more likely for over a decade now, and most of the people who used to be in my life just kept calling me literally insane.
Then, 90% of what I kept telling people would probably happen, happens, within +/- 1 to 2 years of when it does happen.

I'm just trying to say that the surreality of it... its something I've gotten used to.

As best I can tell, currently, Mike Johnson is trying to figure out some way to shut down Congress, as a number of House Democrats that was at least 70, the last time I checked, (growing fairly quickly), are trying to 25th Amendment Trump, right now.
If Johnson actually is shutting down Congress, that could just be him doing his usual bullshit, or... a fair number of actual Republicans have actually drawn the line at Trump threatening genocide, in addition to a large number of right wing influencer types.
Like... Tucker Carlson called out Trump, MTG did... more than that.
Its possible that Johnson is at least afraid that this is all so insane, that there could be enough Rep 'defectors' to push it through the House.

I am full of righteous fury right now, and very much want to say things that would get me on more watch lists than I almost certainly already am.
I'm not defending it but my guess is that outlets do not want to seem partisan by picking the not trump side as this would immediately destroy part of their demographic (magats and magat adjacents) who will flock to Maga approving sources, and because this is the US Maga is probably like 60% of their demographic.
