And this is one of many reasons why Buzz gets a free pass to throw hands at flat earthers and moon landing deniers.
That and it's not like he was being politely asked a stupid question but being harassed (again). I'd say getting in the face of an elderly person and harassing them, physically blocking them, and demanding they answer questions is worthy of a punch- astronaut or not.
I think it's pretty obvious that the nutjob was trying to provoke exactly that sort of response out of Aldrin, and that's the primary reason why I think Aldrin should get a free pass. He had a film crew there and he wanted to get good footage for his documentary or whatever.
Bart Sibrel makes his living off moon landing denial, and has ambushed multiple astronauts and insisted they swear on the bible that they went to the moon. It was all a PR stunt because he could spin literally outcome to further convince his followers that he's right.
I don't even think he's nuts but a conman.

Can someone explain to me why moonlanding deniers are currently claiming Buzz Aldrin now also denies the moonlanding? This is something I've had a real life ~~idiot~~ person say to me.
Buzz was answering a question from a young girl about why we haven't gone back to the moon in so long. During his answer he said the words "because we didn't go there" as part of a longer answer about why we hadn't gone back. Moon landing deniers clip that and act like it an admission that the moon landings didn't happen.
Literally in the same answer he talks about going to and returning from the moon.
This is new to me. That's just advanced stupid.
I am also curious to know, as I've also run into this recently.
My knowledge of Buzz Aldrin involves him punching a moon landing denier in the face for saying he faked the whole thing, so I feel like this must be some sort of new denier disinfo campaign.
Bart Sibrel got punched. He is a professional moon landing denier who has. He makes his living off moon landing denial stuff. He has hassled various Apollo astronauts by ambushing them and insisting they swear on the Bible that they actually went to the moon.
