Thank you! It’s going to depend a lot on when we get the all clear to sail again and where we can get to before hurricane season kicks in as a result. We are hoping to still be able to get through the Panama Canal but it could be getting too late to head that way by the time we can leave.
Oh I didn't even think about how the time of year could affect your ability to get across the pacific.
I am sure I've probably asked this before but I don't remember, is your boat a sail boat or do you rely on fuel? Heading across the pacific seems like quite a journey, even though I'm sure you could get fuel at many islands as you go.
Yep our travel is very much governed by the seasons, as well as whatever life throws at us in between. They are saying it is possibly going to be a very strong El Niño year too, which would tend to collapse trade winds (that we would rely on to cross the Pacific) and bring more tropical storms to the Pacific. So maybe this forced pause is a good thing.
We are on a sailboat…as may be obvious with the above paragraph! Oof, can you imagine how expensive crossing the Pacific would be right now if you were under engine power only?
