I dont get the joke, what does "he tried to call me down for going out between the acts to see a woman" mean?
i think it was fairly common for wealthy men to leave during the intermission, go to the greenroom and try to "hire" an actress as a prostitute. i dont know if this was only for men visiting without their wives or what, but i wouldnt put it past them to do it with the whole family in attendance.
i think this pic is referring to that, but flipping the genders. thus the funny.
The wife is leaving the seats during intermission to chat to a woman at the bar and the husband is annoyed? jealous? I'm not sure either.
