Maybe I'm being unrealistic but I've always felt like most gov officials like Congress should only get what the average American income is. Making government that rewards and attracts money motivated people doesn't seem good for society (obviously). If they find the wage unlivable then maybe it's time to restructure some things.

IMO the official salary should be high enough that a non-rich person can live comfortably and have a secure future for themselves and their family so they could potentially hold office without being tempted much to do this sort of thing.

I agree with you.

The vast majority will always use their connections to acquire wealth, it's human nature. Of course they want themselves and their kids to be taken care of. They will always have tons of "perks" with their positions.

That's why there should be term limits, in my opinion. There's no better solution. So of course they will never pass it, they all want to spend 50 years in office so they can be the Dynasty like Bush family please clap

I don't think they are in it for the politics. The money is the endgame. Livable or unlovable wages doesn't play a big part in it.

Pelosi, or Trump for that matter, are not there to make Murica nor the world better - they are there for the money. That is the problem we need to fix.
