World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

It's amazing how quickly leftists support was crimes so long as the victims are "the right people".
I'm also amazed at how quickly you blame leftists based on one person's comment that gave no indication that they are a leftist.
So you're making assumptions based on your flawed and biased experience instead of factual data. Got it. I expected that given the quality of comment you provided above.
😂
I assume everything you say is only the highest of quality peer-reviewed science too.
No, I simply recognise what I perceive may not be the same as reality and would double check my assumptions before posting any comment so I do less mistakes. I especially do not proudly proclaim that my comments lack any research whatsoever and that I'm completely fine with it like you are doing.
Checking if the person I'm accusing of being a leftist is a leftist first before posting the comment is not pretending to do research, it's simply common sense.
You somehow think that making comments involves either peer-reviewed science or zero research at all and nothing in between. You also seem to be proud of not double-checking your assumptions at all. From these two observations, I can tell that you have a few issues up there that needs to be addressed.
lol fuck right off with this shit.
"Trust me bro" is neither an acceptable source nor an acceptable form of birth control...though it appears to be working for the women nearest you.
OMG dude. 🤣
Are the leftists in the room with you right now?
I suppose I don't really know why I engage with willfully ignorant dumbasses. It's just that it feels wrong to leave the really fucking stupidly wrong comments with no reply. I know it won't break through the ignorance. They're living in their own little alternate reality, ignoring everything that doesn't fit into their little constructed worldview, attacking everyone who is actually trying to make the world a better place.
But I guess it makes me feel better to speak up against the stupidity, even though it's useless. Because if we don't, these idiots will dominate the conversation and it will end up with more people going down that path.
It's like the anecdote of the bar where the guy is at the bar having a drink. Another guy walks in, goes up to the bar and orders a drink. Bartender tells him to get out. New guy says, "Hey, I just want to have a drink and relax, man." Bartender has none of it, tells him to get out and never come back. New guy leaves, and our original guy asks the bartender about it, to which the bartender replies: "That guy had a swastika tattoo. He was a nazi. And the thing is, he probably would have been polite and had a drink and maybe even made friendly conversation. But the thing about nazis: Once he realized he was allowed here, he'd start bringing his other nazi friends. Once you let one of them in and stay, you become a nazi bar."
It's a little glurgy, and maybe it never happened or maybe it's happened a hundred times..... that's the thing about anecdotes like that.
But the underlying principle is sound.
If we let these fucking fascists take over the conversation, soon this place will be no better than /r/the_donald or /r/conservative or Truth Social or any of the other places fascists congregate.
So I guess that's why I speak up.
But I don't really try to change their stupid opinions, because there's no fucking point. All I really would like to see is for them to shut the fuck up and stop pissing all over the conversation.
They made themselves the right people with the genocide they support. 5 years ago it was a different story. But 100,000+ Palestinians later, I have no sympathy for Israelis. FAFO
Maybe not - though the anti-Israel stance of most / many leftist certainly seems to be getting pretty rabid. And the person I called a 'leftist' didn't dispute that claim.
