The amount of pressure and training and abuse girls have to go through to become professional ballet dancers shouldn't be acceptable for anything. It destroys your hips, knees, feet and fucks with your body image and eating habits like few other things. Maybe there are more modern schools with less abusive methods, but I doubt it. My ex was repeatedly told, she would never amount to anything because her butt was to big. As a dancer. At 13. Fuck ballet.
Misty Copeland just announced she got double hip replacements. She's 43.
My partner attended one of those. It was about dancing and self expression rather than about the performance itself, so she has a very healthy relationship to ballet. But for professional troupes? Nah those need to be torn down and built from the ground up.
