Pretty remarkable that they control that much and still can't meaningfully control culture.
Have you not noticed the global rise of fascism fueled by billionaire owned media companies controlling the narrative?
Over here in Europe, it's extremely obvious. Everything a left-wing party does is scrutinized, every new right-wing scandal is barely worth mentioning.
Lemmy is just a left-wing bubble. Lots of people watch TV and simply believe mist thing they see.
And which of the listed companies did that come from?
None of them. It came from fox news and right wing YouTube. And it's a minority that's shrinking and increasingly isolated from everyone else, who are all growing more and more disdainful of the right.
He openly stated he is in Europe. We have no Fox News here and YouTube is barely used by the right wing.
I am so tired of American Lemmy users like you who cannot think outside of their crumbling nation.
Murdoch owned media, then. Pardon me for focusing on America in the comments of a post by an American senator about an American billionaire family buying up mostly American media networks and largely failing to influence wider American culture with them.
As I already pointed out, imagining you would try this comeback, you answered a specific comment, USian.
And Murdoch owns none of the state-run or private channels that are the main source of news in all the major EU economies at the very least.
