Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

While global stocks have largely sustained ‌the relief rally that followed Monday's wild swings, fear is again resurfacing as Iran vowed to step up its missile strikes.

President Donald Trump's assurance that the war with Iran was "very complete" and could be "over soon" initially injected optimism into markets, even as Iranian hardliners rallied behind new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and said their blockade of oil would continue.

Within hours of Trump's statements, Iran's military dashed markets' hopes. "We are the ones who will determine the end of the war," Iran's Revolutionary Guards said.

Such comments brought the exchange back to a familiar tempo with Trump then threatening to hit Iran "TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far."

Bigotry is pretty popular, I'm aware. Great job running with that torch. It is extremely shitty.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The state of mind of a bigot; obstinate and unreasoning attachment of one's own belief and opinions, with narrow-minded intolerance of beliefs opposed to them. I'm a leftist believe it or not, I care about people, I believe in equality, all those lovely words you lot use when forcing "democracy" on other countries. But the actions of your government has put my family in direct danger, again, so what I'm portraying isn't bigotry, it's I've had enough of your shit and I hope you get a taste of your own medicine. Countless republican wars waged on the middle east all based on lies and resources that have killed hundred of thousands, directly and indirectly. Welcome to the real world, where people eventually resent you, much like an abusive toxic relationship.

I care about people

Unless they are American. A lot of us have been opposing half the shit this country does for the past few decades we've been alive. But go on, hate us and blame us too. That's what bigotry is. You already know me because I'm American. Let the hatred flow through you.

And how has your protesting gone, have you held your government (s) accountable. FFS you can't even apprehend pedofiles!! Your entire system is rotten to the core and Trump is just the end result. So yes, some of you are protesting, but that counts for fuck all when your successive governments carry on as usual. AT least Bush made a pretense of WMD? Trump just barks to Israeli commands. You are represented on the world stage by your government, and your government is rotten. It is rigged against the average American and a large chunk of you are stupid enough to fall for the Reaganomics of trickle down, which has given rise to the billionaire class who are now dictating domestic and foreign policy. Take a lesson from Europe and especially the French on how to deal with a hostile government. It's pathetic.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

It's pathetically stupid also to conflate a government with its powerless citizens.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Up to a point, after decades of the same, it looks like this is America. Citizens are not powerless, you've been made to believe that by the oligarchs, general strikes should be the norm by now if such a majority of you are against this but instead we have Lindsey Graham bleating on about how much money America will make. The fact that Israel has universal healthcare and you guys don't because "socialism" is very telling considering you're the ones paying for it. I'm sorry but America on the world stage is ALL of you.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

There isn't a discussion here. You're a bigot and I've told you that. This is just you trying to justify it, but that cannot happen

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

And you are an enabler. Thanks to your inability over decades to stop wars decided by a terrorist apartheid state, you have once again allowed the middle east to burn.
