I stopped using ๐Ÿ‘ IRL because in many cultures it is analogous to ๐Ÿ–•. And the more I thought of it, the vulgarer it felt.

Switched to ๐Ÿ‘Œ as it is widely understood but has a US/fash undertone to it. I am aware of it but idk if other people are.

I do kind of need a non-subcultural hand gesture to communicate positive sentiments, particularly across language and culture barriers. Not in a position to be introducing new gestures.
