I wonder if Iran would go after Trump & Maralago? Like they have to know the very large majority of Americans are against this war.

[–] oleastre@social.trom.tf 11 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

@Sunflier @tidderuuf For or against the war, a primary school was targeted on the first day.
I would not expect better.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Exactly. When you purposefully kill a bunch of children as a first strike you're almost DEMANDING similar retaliation. It's like they want Iran to attack on US soil.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

That would likely provide just cause for martial law. And people couldn't do anything about the -Philes.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Can't really expect them to care how many Americans are against the war as long as it's not enough to stop anything.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 2 points 18 hours ago

I'd like to think most individuals in a war don't actually want the war, but given how unlikable the US is, I really wouldn't put it past a majority to want to see harm done to anyone from or in the US. I also couldn't blame them, either.

[–] tuff_wizard@aussie.zone 2 points 17 hours ago

Do they?

Look at the propaganda we’re fed and then remember that most of them don’t have access to the wider internet. Their own government and no doubt Israel are probably pouring a strict diet of anti western propaganda straight down their throats.

It's not even that.

They can't penetrate American missile defenses, we're too far away, we'll see it coming.

And the White House is built to prevent terrorist attacks, not just the building but the layout of the grounds and distance from other stuff.

A terrorist could book a room at Marlago and likely have a busboy wheel the explosives in a suitcase.

They don't even really need to blow it up, just burn it down with shit they find.

Honestly it seems naive to think that a significant percentage of marlago guests aren't spies and terrorists these days.

With how common empty rooms for long stretches have been as bribed, someone could have a room open for months/years before finally having a bad actor move in.

Hotels are notoriously dangerous for terrorist risks to feds, and that's routine travel not them basically living there.

I really think we'll see an attack on Marlago, just because that's where trump is most exposed. And we have dumbasses in charge of preventing it.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

They're destroying defense systems right now.

[–] Xenny@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I don't mean to scare you but they already did the math and we can't stop every single missile. Our coastline is too big

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Anyone that told you Iran can hit America with a missile is lying to get an increase ind defense spending.

The claim is that a container ship could be used as a drone carrier.

This claim was used to justify attacks against Iranian shipping companies.

The truth is that it is possible to use a container ship this way, and the US might not see it coming in time to actually do anything about it.
