Gabe just won a major case in a jury trial against a Rothschild patent troll and the case was so egregious that it may pierce the corporate veil and Lord Rothschild be liable for damages. That's why there's all this squawking now.
Just read about that case and it's wild, Valve actually paid the racket its money back in 2016 and they still sued, so now Valve is going after not only the anti patent troll law but also breach of contract damages.
The amounts are hilariously small for a company like Valve though. Like I'm sure the lawyers have made more than they're set to be awarded over the past ten years of fighting this case.
Anyway that said I hope they get CRUSHED by the new york AG and set a precedent that leads to the dismantling of all loot boxes and gacha mechanics in gaming, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
