Well, I've never tried it, but I don't really see the point of it.
There's already Mastodon or any other number of similar services. There's Pixelfed and any other number of similar services. Lemmy, Piefed... What does UpScrolled do for me?
Seemingly, nothing. I don't care.
Apparently, a lot of people are switching to it after Tiktok got acquired by US. But it's more like Instagram rather than Tiktok IMO
I read about that on Wikipedia. It said that it's kinda like Instagram and Twitter.
I mean, I get the rejection of TikTok, at least... Seems like an odd choice for a refuge, but whatever. Have you tried it out yet?
I haven't. Literally heard about and discovered it just a few hours ago
Ah alright then.
Updated the post. Check it out
Ah, I see! Yes, from my cursory look I figured it wasn't decentralised, but it's not even open-source and the trackers... I don't know much about trackers at all, not sure how harmless those might be or if they're for anonymised analytics, for example. Frankly, the simple fact it has ads (and I assume there's no easy way to remove them like with ReVanced for YT) is a deal-breaker. Everything else is just piss on the shit sandwich.
Thanks for the update!
Yup, there's nothing appealing to it honestly. There's absolutely no reason to use it or even give it a chance after knowing all these red flags
