Dbzero Governance Vote Post https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/63525728

Ahoy mateys!

A few of our users have recently pointed out that a lot of the pro-Zionist accounts on the fediverse nowadays seem to come from the feddit.org instance.

But whatever the excuse happens to be, they need to do better imo. Israel is currently the most violent, fascist and genocidal nation state in the Middle East (if you exclude the US military bases there). And yet feddit.org seems to regard the Palestinians fighting against Israel’s ongoing illegal occupation of their land as the real terrorists. ....

More context

Our instance already voted to ban pro-Zionist accounts (see https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/60585441 for reference) and the rule that was implemented is here: Golden Rule #8.

As further context, you can find relevant comments and discussion in this post by a banned feddit admin in MoG (that fact they chose to post in MoG is in itself quite telling), and this post about their defederation from quokk.au over anti-semitism allegations has recently become active again. ...

Note 2: If you think feddit.org deserves a full instance ban instead, or have alternative suggestions, then please leave your comments below. If enough people think that’s the better option, then we’ll do that instead.

In the end the Post had around 70% of support by dbzer0 users, who in the comments also called for defederation.

Here is a Link to Dbzer0 instances tab https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/instances where if you go to blocked instances you can see fedddit.org is now defederated

i dont think feddit has made a post now, but when they do i will add it

Tbd those are all united by nationalist resistance against imperialism but a group that is anti nation can't really allow itself to join a group that is pro nation (or anti / pro state to be more specific)

Yes but we can all unite against the nation(s) we are in and against the most destructive of them all (the US and its NATO proxies). After the US is toppled we can focus on revolution elsewhere.

I still retain anarchism as a guiding principle but how we get there is taking on each of these reactionary national projects by focusing on the worst ones first and pretty much any real anarchist active IRL that I know understands this.

I'm just speaking to the comparison with Arab nationalist projects, there is more potential for unity when people are on the same side of the contradiction. Anarchists and other non revolutionary leftists are often on the same side as the ruling class in their nations. They replicate and/or reinforce bourgeois control while often putting themselves against "authoritarian" leftists who are fundamentally committed to oppose the bourgeoisie. Their strategies and tactics rely on capitalism to continue and yoke themselves to capitalism, and the leftist symbolism is a way to make themselves feel better about not doing anything to oppose the system they benefit from. I would rather spend my time organizing with the apolitical colonized communities who will embrace collectivism than try and convince rad libs to be professional and approach organizing like it is more than just a social club. Saying this after a decade of working with every type of leftist in coalition spaces and unions.

Fair analysis especially wrt organizing with colonized communities which is where my focus has also landed in the last few years. Lots to chew on and thanks for the well constructed reply. I do maintain there is worth in agitating among spaces that people are doing good work in any tendency aka food not bombs and other not explicitly revolutionary spaces, going among the masses and whatnot.

Where are these "non-revolutionary anarchists" you're speaking of? 3 networks I have connections to, multiple conferences and bookfairs, 4 of the most prominent media outlets in the past decade, all of them are invariably revolutionary, though some don't have a clear program of how exactly it would be done.
