On a reddit thread people were saying that when your memory is full up, they lock your computer and force you to pay money to onedrive to unlock it or something? I can't have gotten that right, but there is some kind of fuckery involved, people try to turn it off but it's like hardwired into the computer so it's hard to remove it.
I'm worried as my shitty computer is nearing full memory. I never knowingly enabled onedrive, but can't buy a new computer if they brick this one, and refuse to pay them ransom money. If they try I will be going open source as soon as I am able, which I've been meaning to do anyway if I can figure out how.
If your one drive folder reaches the cap it will stop you from saving files to one drive (which MS sets as a default location). Then it will ask you to pay. There is a possibility at this point that it will wipe your data if you disable One Drive before backing up your files to a non One Drive folder.
It won’t brick your computer, it’s just really pushy marketing with a chance of wiping some data.
