Patch worn by Ukrainian soldier reading "Nord Division" featuring an image of a skeleton soldier in front of a Black Sun, a stylized sun emblem used by the Nazis.

The patch is an image used by Ukrainian rap group Nord Division, I couldn't find much info about them but apparently they are fighters from the Kraken Regiment according to an unverified bio on genius.com

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sun_(symbol)

The Black Sun (German: Schwarze Sonne) is a type of sun wheel (Sonnenrad)[1][2] symbol originating in Nazi Germany and later employed by neo-Nazis and other far-right individuals and groups.

Nazi symbols aside, the fuck is "Remembrance is not a violation" even supposed to mean?

Yeah out of context it's nonsense, I'm pretty sure it's in reference to a Ukrainian Olympic athlete who was punished for having a helmet adorned with some sort of memorial for soldiers in Ukraine, I don't know the details of that

Vladyslav Heraskevych. It was a stunt specifically designed to violate the rules, so there would be broad global media coverage of smol bean uWu Ukraine being bullied by the Olympics on behalf of big bad Russia. He was offered numerous compromises that would still let him show off his helmet, but declined all of them. The IOC's hard line was that he can wear it before his runs, after his runs, and any other time he wants, but the second he hits the track, no political decorations allowed.

look at all those redditors "boycotting" the olympics ~~because genociders are allowed to participate~~ because a brave hero wasn't allowed to wear his special hero helmet

Whatever will the Olympics do without the patronage of the 16 year old nazis on reddit???

on behalf of big bad Russia
