How tf does it cost almost 6 BILLION to build a bridge? What, is it make of Gold-plated Bitcoin?
Cynical me thinks that, since they will keep the most of tolls collected until the building cost paid back, it was in their best interest to tack on a few zeroes to it.
Also the other Detroit-Windsor bridge is privately owned for some fucking reason, and it's owner Matty Moroun (rot in piss bozo
) fought to stop the Gordie Howe bridge from being built because he didn't want to lose his monopoly.
