The current political climate in the USA is Trump being booed by crowds at public events and MAGA being roasted regularly by comedians on cable TV or massively popular shows like South Park. His political party is in a panicked crisis about upcoming midterm elections that they are certain to lose across the nation, and Trump is polling at lowest ever approval ratings.

Green Day playing one of their most popular songs to an audience even more receptive to its message than when it was written is not very surprising. Like... it's literally their 2nd most played song on Spotify...
