Why do you think tech is sucking up to government? They want to replace those oil money influences with their own opinions and schemes. Oil is waning and tech is on the rise. It's also why they so aggressively try to keep oil relevant, because they are making shit tons of money from it. It doesn't help "us" in any way, we could easily all be driving electric and powered by renewables.
