Across its full range, Tesla sold just 83 vehicles in total in January 2026, marking an 88 percent decline compared to the same period last year.

Admittedly EV sales dropped 70% because of changes to the tax benefits.
But still Tesla declined among the other brands, after for the longest time keeping their market share in Norway pretty steady while declining across the rest of Europe.

For comparison to the 83 cars sold by Tesla, VW ID.3 sold 299 cars, and the Tesla model Y was only ranked 6th. That's how much behind Tesla is now, from its previous leading position.

Congratulation Norway for finally waking up to the fact that Tesla cars are actually pretty bad, with 45% of 4 year old model Y failing the mandatory safety check in Denmark. So you might as well buy a better car, and as a bonus not support Elon Musk fascism.

To be fair, when tesla arrived on the market there were not good options from other brands

Absolutely, but that is back in the Tesla S days, before Trump was elected the first time.
And Elon Musk has gone more and more insane over the years. And now USA as a country is becoming an enemy, and Tesla stands for everything bad about Trump.

USA becoming an unreliable partner became clear November 2024. And Crystal clear within months of Trump taking the presidency.

He's always been nuts. He's just been bolder about showing it publicly now that he knows he won't lose face by doing so.

We oughta fix that.

According to his father, he didn't use to be a racist fascist, which disappointed his father a lot.
After becoming openly both racist and fascist, his father has expressed how happy he is that Elon finally came around.

So no I don't think he was always crazy. Selfish and entitled yes, but not crazy like he is now.

How much did EV sales drop if you don't include for Tesla? That might be an interesting number

Norway usually sells 10-15k cars per month, but in December, sold over 35k new cars. [...] Overall car sales only numbered 2,218 cars in January.

From electrek.

A month where sales are below 20% of the usual sales isn't repreaentative.

Considering Model Y was only 2.8% of sales, then with a 20% bigger drop than the market in general, it would probably have been about 25% higher, speculating that model 3 would add another 1.5% that would be (2.8+1.5) x 1.25 = 5.4% marketshare before this latest drop.
So with a total drop of about 70%, discounting Tesla it would probably be about 67-68%. It wouldn't for instance be less than 65%.

If the EV sales are down that much in general, I think the headline is pretty misleading. Yes, Tesla performed worse than other brands, but it's not like people boycotted Tesla specifically more than last year. Unfortunately.

It's still way worse for Tesla than the market in general.
