Hmmmm, if only we could have seen this coming... People predicted this when ICEBlock came to be and it was just a matter of time until it would happen for one of these platforms. You gotta run small local groups for this type of stuff. Decentralizing is the name of the game.
I remember someone reviewed ICEBlock’s code and reported some issues and the dev was so defensive and rudely dismissed it. I think it was eventually determined that it was a minor issue, but the main takeaway from that is just because it’s for a good cause, it doesn’t mean you should fully trust the developer. They’re still human at the end of the day.
Even if the dev is a literal saint, the feds can still just break into his house and take over his servers and ssh keys to modify the software or push a malicious update.
Or perhaps develop the Honeypot app in the first place.
